At PNW CrossFit in Tacoma, our highly-skilled CrossFit level 1 coaches lead group classes small enough to give each person individualized attention similar to personal training. You never know what to expect when you walk in the box, but you can be rest assured that there will always be someone there to explain the workout and make sure your form is correct. Once workout starts, the music and encouragement of the coaches and other members is always enough motivation to get through until the end. The social, family-type atmosphere at the box keeps people coming back.
You won't find fancy machines or mirrors, what you find is a FUN, friendly, and non-judgmental environment where our members cheer each other on and we all feel like family. Q; What is CrossFit?
A: CrossFit is a fitness program that, by its very design, is constantly changing. When you step into the box (CrossFit gyms are referred to as "boxes") on any given day, you might do a workout that mixes Olympic Weightlifting, jump rope, and pull-ups or one that combines rowing, kettle bells, tire-flipping and squats. You might be inside or outside; working as fast as you can or pacing yourself; each day is different and each move can be scaled to your level of fitness.
Q: I heard CrossFit is really hard. Am I in good enough shape to join?
A: Yes at PNW CrossFit, we have members of all ages and fitness levels. Our Coaches can help you modify or substitute exercises depending on your level of fitness. Coaches and other members will encourage you to challenge yourself in each workout, but you go at your own pace, doing only what you are comfortable with. While you are welcome to begin at any of our classes, the first Saturday of every month at 11am is set aside to teach movements and work on form for beginners.
Q: How often do I have to come to the box?
A: How often you work out is really up to you. We have classes Monday-Saturday and most of the members come between 3-5 times per week. We strive to make it fun here so that our members look forward to coming as much as possible instead of "having" to come a certain number of days.
Q: What should I wear /bring with me?
A: Wear comfortable clothing you can jump around and go upside down in and shoes that you can run and jump in. Bring a bottle of water.
Q: What should I expect when I walk into the box, the warm-up, skill work, and WOD (workout of the day) will be on the board. Warm-ups are typically 5-10 minutes. Skill work involves learning and practicing techniques and skills. During the skill work, we go over any unfamiliar movements in the WOD. Finally, the WOD begins, these can be anywhere from 5 to 50 minutes long and change everyday. Once you complete the WOD, you are done for the day!
Q: How do I get started?

Although you can stop by any of our classes, we offer an open-gym for beginners on the first saturday of every month where you can learn basic movements. The fee for this class is $20. Look under "about us" for the most up to date class schedule.
Q: How much is PNW CrossFit?
A: We offer competive pricing ranging for $80/month to $110/month. Because of our small class sizes, PNW CrossFit is more akin to small group personal training than a gym membership. We have the Best CrossFit prices in the south sound.
